Woo Hoo!

Yay! Shiny new WordPress platform and everything works again!

Now, I’d better crack on with the long post…….

London Food Marathon

Started writing a long post about me weekend, then my site conked out and lost everything I’d done. Until I can find the will to start over, and get my technical support to migrate this site to a better platform, here’s a piccie to keep you going:

Happy Anniversary, Hunny Bunny

Today marks 6 years since I married my wonderful husband. It’s also 15 years this month since I met my Grok in a bar. He banged me on the head, dragged me home with him and we’ve been together ever since. It might have been the other way round…… 😉

He’s not let himself go at all 🙂 In fact he’s become a lean, mean marathon running and cross-fit machine and I’ve learned to be a number 1 fan-wife. He puts up with my duvet days, makes a top-notch cup of tea and knows better than to ask when dinner will be ready. As well as educating me in the ways of the S’African, he’s introduced me to the Paleo lifestyle and has even got me to enjoy running. Oops, and he managed my blog too!

It’s never been an easy ride, and we’ve weathered more cr*p over the years than most people, but I wouldn’t swap him for the world – but it would be nice if the next 15 years could be a little kinder to us.

You and me against the universe, B!

T-10

Yay! Only 10 days until I go off on hols – technically it’s 11 days until I get to see the beach as it’s an overnight flight but whatevs 🙂

In preparation I’ve got my packing list written, all logistics planned and paid for, and I’ve already started eating “holiday” food:

Clean June – Days 22-30 (Week 4)

Final week of Clean June.

Dairy intake reduced to <250ml – ACHIEVED. This wasn’t so hard in the end. It’s summer, so I don’t feel the need for a hot cuppa and fruit tea or water tastes just fine, but in winter I think I’d struggle with the cold and the dark making me hunt down caffeine.

Alcohol reduced to maximum 14 units per week – ACHIEVED. Didn’t manage this for all the weeks. I blame the sudden lovely weather but in reality I have cut out a lot just by being more aware of when I’m drinking, and when I really only want a glass of water.

Get out for a walk or cycle every day, including gym days – FAIL Think this may have been a bit ambitious, as I only went walking at the weekends before and hit the gym twice a week, but I will persevere 🙂

This week’s menu – 27 June 2014

  • Squid, chorizo and tomato salad on pea shoots and rocket
  • Lamb curry w/ cauliflower rice
  • Fish and sweet potato curry w/ greens
  • Jerk chicken w/ mango salsa and plantain chips
  • Czech Meatballs w/ sauerkraut
  • Chicken and chorizo w/ cauliflower rice

Frittata Cake

I don’t often post lunches, as they are normally just a salad assembly job, but today’s luncheon deserved its own photoshoot 🙂

Clean June – Days 15-21 (Week 3)

Decided to consolidate these check-ins to a weekly post instead of the daily ones.

Dairy intake reduced to <250ml – ACHIEVED.

Alcohol reduced to maximum 14 units per week – FAIL. Upside of not going out for a walk is not walking past pubs, but just tipped over Saturday night due to a last minute invite for drinks with friends.

Get out for a walk or cycle every day, including gym days – FAIL No walks and and no gym sessions, but did walk around IKEA for a couple of hours – does that count? Going to have to pull my socks up as my summer holiday is back on!
